Change in cast

Mustafa Jamal, previously set out for the role of 'the husband' decided to not partake in the Film Opening any longer. We are now looking for a replacement as well as actors for the smaller roles.

Color Psychology

Image
Color psychology examines the impact of different colors on human emotions, thoughts, and actions, uncovering the subconscious effects colors can have in influencing mood and perception. It’s commonly used in marketing, design, and therapy to evoke specific emotional responses. In a similar way, we plan to incorporate color theory in our Film Opening to bring out the emotions of our characters and engage viewers on an emotional level.  Here are the colors we are going to use in our Film Opening that have also been shown in our Mood Board. Black, often associated with power can also be interpreted as mystique and creates a sense of wonder and obscurity.  Dark Green, is usually related to wealth and nature and can add a calming effect. Mustard Yellow, is affiliated with nostalgia, comforting the viewers. Mahogany, represents isolation and dullness creating a negative effect. Soft Taupe, is paired with ideas of simplicity and calmness making it a comforting color. Gray, usu...

Starting production with V.O.

Image
We met up at a location to begin recording our narrations from the script. Seemal Rizwan's voice was used.  We also decided to refine out the storyboard. Our director, Mahira Ibrahim, made the storyboard while I drew the pictures for it.

Script (final draft)

Image
We wrote the script and have completed the final draft.

Changing the script

Image
Although we had the "final" draft made up, we decided to change up some narrations so they would compliment the story more and overall look more refined. Moreover, the story would remain the same. The final draft of the script will be posted on our blogs as soon as we finish updating it on Fade In.

Script (second draft)

Image
Me and my team worked on the script as we were missing many core aspects such as the actions and basic finalization of the voice over format. We now have the second draft.

Mood board

We finished selecting the perfect pictures and Mishel Ali made the mood board for our Film Opening using Canva.

Finding the right pictures for our moodboard

Image
We wanted our moodboard to look cohesive and orderly thus we went out looking for pictures that we could use and narrowing it down to the right ones. Although we are still working on the moodboard, I wanted to share the process of making it. I made use of websites like Pinterest to look for inspiration.

Final Presentation

Image
We gave our final presentation and our sir underlined some issues we faced in the script formatting but we sorted it all out and started moving forward.

Storyboard

Image
As required in the filmmaking process, our director Mahira Ibrahim came up with a storyboard to go along with our Film Opening underlining all scenes within the film.

Easter Eggs

Image
We collectively decided to add interesting features to our Film Opening.  The first way we decided to do this was to make use of morse code which is an internationally known system that uses dashes and dots as a way to communicate letters. Adding this will make our scenes that much more compelling. We hid three morse code statements in our film and although plenty of people might not notice it, it will definitely be a fun twist.  Another fun detail we decided to add is the use of cursive. As in the movie 'Coraline', the use of double looped 'O' indicates a lie as the girl is welcomed home but she is infact not home. The picture below is our key inspiration but we will make use of the 'O' is both 'welcome' and 'home', which compliments our story better.

Software

Image
Here I'm gonna be showing the software apps we will use for our project.  1. Fade In - a software used for script writing.  2. Canva - a design tool that helps people create great visuals using templates and simple editing features. 3. Davinci Resolve - I personally wanted to use this software for color grading as it has various tools.

Cast

Image
Selecting the right cast is an essential aspect of the movie, as it brings the characters to life and helps the audience connect with the story. A good cast can add emotional depth and make the film more impactful. By choosing actors who fit their roles well, we can create a strong team that enhances the overall production. Here is our cast :  Main lead: Humna Mansoor  Husband: Mustafa Jamal Brother: Muzamil Khan  Mother: Sophia Shahid  Father: Hussain Rizvi  Mother In Law: Sumiyaa Abid
