Script

Image
Scriptwriting is a crucial part of filmmaking. Instead of using dialogue for our Film Opening Task, we decided to use narration to describe the main character's emotions and thoughts. This choice helps the audience connect more deeply with the character, showing their inner struggles in a way that dialogue might not. By focusing on narration, we want to pull viewers into the character's mindset and set the tone for the rest of the film. This approach adds a special touch to our opening and encourages the audience to think about the character's journey right from the beginning.

Inspiration

I was inspired by the movie Parched (2015). The film centers around around four women living an unwanted life in a village of north-western region of India,  which still suffers from old, age-ridiculed traditions like forced child marriages and other social issues like financial difficulties, and physically and emotionally abusive alcoholic husbands.   Watching "Parched" inspired me by showing the struggles of women in a tough society and made me want to tell stories about their strength and the need for change.

Idea

Since I joined after the idea was laid out by my other team members, the idea was presented to me and I was immediately intrigued by it. The idea covers topics of Gender/Social Inequalities, Domestic violence and Cultural Expectations which many woman could relate to. This would create awareness.

Photographic study (Landscape)

Besides my love for film, I really enjoy photography! I get to work around with different compositions and editing styles, turning each photo into an interesting experience. Here below are some of my favourites : A calming sunset reminding you of the ever changing moments. I took this picture because the vibrant colors of the umbrellas stood out beautifully against the muted fog, creating a striking composition.   The deep shadows against the radiant foggy sky gave the landscape an otherworldly atmosphere, transforming the ordinary into a captivating scene that felt both mysterious and serene.

Chosen Set Brief

The set brief me and my team chose is 'Film Opening Task'. We opted for this because this allows us to display and learn multiple skills such as camera work, lighting, mise en scene and other various intriguing tasks. I personally went for this set brief because I deeply enjoy every aspect of film/filmmaking. This set brief offers unique opportunities to explore filmmaking by countless visual elements.  In addition, composing an intriguing opening I can explore how visuals, sound, and dialogue work together to create an immersive experience . This project not only challenges me to think creatively but also encourages collaboration with my team, allowing us to combine our ideas and perspectives. Ultimately, I view this assignment as a chance to enhance my technical abilities and develop a deeper understanding of film as an impactful narrative medium.
